Hey Riders!
Tom Murphy approached me awhile back about perhaps leading a ride in the “cooler country.” He knows I live in Prescott, but I’m thinking cooler yet, as Prescott hasn’t been so cool in this record hot summer. I told him I don’t ride in monsoon thunderstorm season, but would put something together when that is over. Looks like maybe it’ll be over as of next weekend, i.e. Sat Sep 12.
We’ll ride in the area of Stoneman Lake and eastward, with altitudes up to 8,400′. We’ll visit at least a couple of lookout towers and a couple of lakes. A lot of the roads have pine forest shade. Most are pretty smooth, with possibly a few minor challenges. Estimated ride duration 5 hours.
The ride will start at 10:00 AM on Stoneman Lake Rd (Coconino Forest Rd 213), 6.4 miles east of I-17 exit 306. Coordinates are N34.77137° W111.54968°. This is the point where Stoneman Lake Rd goes left at a ‘T’ intersection. You can park your trailer and tow vehicle along the road before that intersection, or to the right or the left after that intersection. Then ride your buggy to this intersection to meet up.
Please bring a mask to wear, and practice social distancing, during rest & lunch stops when we are out of our vehicles. Please do not bring a passenger for your vehicle, other than someone who normally lives with you.
Please do sign up if you expect to come, and then remove yourself if your plans must change.
