I have heard from others that they would like to go on a trip to the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument like we did last year.  Same as last year, we will visit White Pocket and several of the overlooks from Vermilion Cliffs looking south over the Colorado River Canyon.  Last year we also went up the east side of the Kaibab Plateau on the Great Western Trail, which was a very good trail.  If anyone is interested in sharing a guided fishing trip on Nov 4 (need at least 3, may have 4 people), I would also like to fish a world class trout fisheries at Lees Ferry.  I am putting this up in plenty of time for people who will not be taking their RVs to get reservations at one of the 3 lodges at Lees Ferry. Last year I stayed at the Cliff Dwellers Lodge. We trailered our rigs up to House Rock Valley Road each day.  The roads on the Monument are very sandy and require 4×4. The trail up the Kaibab Plateau is steep but nothing scary.

Any questions let me know.

Unless you wanted to camp from your UTV, Jeep, or other 4×4, I would recommend against driving up to the top of Vermilion Cliffs. Certainly not pulling a trailer. I will put together an email mailing list and we can discuss things as the time gets closer.

I would recommend that everyone camping, RVs or car camping, work it out together to locate a location where they can all camp together as we get closer in time when we will be going.

For those planning on staying at one of the Lodges, I recommend you make a reservation ASAP because, they get booked way in advance. I have reservations at the Cliff Dwellers Lodge. The other two lodges are Marble Canyon Lodge and Lee’s Ferry Lodge. I plan to drive up Nov 1 and ride 2-4 and drive home at the end of the 4th.,

  2. Keith, so we’d arrive on Oct 31 and ride on Nov 1-3, correct?

Because Oct 31 is Holoween, I shifted it over a day. We will arrive on Nov 1 and ride Nov 2-4 (3 days) and go home at the end of the day Nov 4.

  3. Hi Kieth, I’m arranging our lodging and I needed a little more info. Are we counting 11/1 & 11/4 as travel days if we don’t join in on the fishing? Trail riding on 11/2 & 11/3? Debbie and I can’t wait for this amazing ride. Thanks for putting this together.

Pat, Nov 1 will be travel day but Nov 4 will be both ride and travel day. I have a spectacular ride planned for Friday. We will drive home after our ride. If you wish to stay another night, you can, and then drive back, at your leisure, on Saturday. I am planning on driving back after our ride on Friday.

No one seemed interested in fishing so will not be going fishing.

      Take care!
