I am trying to figure out destinations in the higher, cooler, country that can still be a day trip.  This trip will stage, in the cool pines, at the junction of I-17 and Schnebly Hill Road, just south of Munds Park (34.91204, -111.64312). We will gather at 8:45 for a safety meeting and depart by 9:00 am.  For me, the drive to the staging area, will be a little less than a 2 hour drive. We will be on the west side of the Highway. The junction is well marked.  The overall trail will be fairly short but very scenic (approximately 32 miles long, round trip). Broken Arrow is short but is one of the most scenic trails, of the Red Rocks, in Arizona (https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/broken-arrow/). To avoid the traffick, we will be doing this trip on a Thursday. We will travel down into Sedona on Schnebly Hill Road. We will travel through some of Sedona on Hwy 179 (with all of the roundabouts) about 2.5 miles before we turn onto the the Broken Arrow trail. Broken Arrow Trail is considered difficult but, is only 4 miles long (8 miles round trip). After experiencing the scenic slick red rock trail we will return up Hwy 179 to have lunch at the Javelina Grill before we return to the staging area on Schnebly Hill Road.  So, we should be back at the staging area fairly early. I will cap the number of rigs at 10 (including me). When you register, do so for only 1 space, so that I can count the number of rigs, not people.

Email me if you wish a gpx file for your GPS.
