Sunday, May 24, 2020 this will be a relatively easy for the first half and scenic starting at about 2100’ and climbing to approximately 5300’ into the Superstition Mountains. We may stop in Superior for a break. As I have not made this trip for a couple of years, it’s hard to say what the trail conditions will be the day of the ride. This is a scenic ride.
Departure time from the staging area will be 9:30 am, at N 33 16.588 W 111 16.529. Try to arrive about 9:00 so we can get organized and have a briefing.
Staging area: head East on US 60 to Florence Junction, continue East to N. Queen Valley Rd. (The turn off about 2 miles from the turn off to Florence SR79). Turn North on N. Queen Valley Rd. and continue Northerly for about 1.75 miles to the intersection of the hard surface road and the dirt road on the right running Easterly, this is Hewitt Station Rd. The staging area is just after you cross the railroad tracks on HS Road.
Miscellaneous: We will not be able to go through Superior through Telegraph Canyon; the trail has been closed as it went through some private land. There for given time and temperature we can double back through the staging area and visit the abandoned mine of Reimer South of SR 60.
Bring a lunch and something to drink, lunch on the trail.
The total trip should be about 55 +-miles, plan on an all day trip.
Registration for this event is closed.
