Staging Area: The Staging Area will be 1.13 miles west of the intersection of I-17 North of SR 169. Travel North on I-17, when you pass the turn off to Prescott (SR 69), continue North approx. 14.75 miles to SR 169 (Exit 278). Turn West and travel 1.13 miles to the dirt road turn off, on the right. You may wish to copy and paste the staging area into Google Earth to see where the staging area is located.

Departure time: We will depart from the staging area about 9:00am. Try to arrive no later than 8:30, so you have time to get prepared. Estimated time to Jerome is 4:00 hrs. Most of the trip will be relatively easy, be prepared for unexpected trail conditions.
General Route: From the staging area to FS 372 to Cherry, AZ. North from Cherry on FS 132 to Mingus Mtn. Plans are to travel the North face of Mingus Mtn. overlooking Cottonwood (FS 413) to Jerome. The trails are relatively easy, with the exception of the last ½ mile through a canyon.
From Jerome there is a couple of interesting side trails we will take on the way to the top of Mingus Mtn. before returning to the staging area.
Miscellaneous: This ride will be on forest service roads and some state highway. Machines should be street legal, properly licensed and carry the appropriate insurance. I would suggest bringing a lunch and snacks as it is difficult getting a quick lunch in Jerome with the motorcycle and tourist crowds. You should also be prepared for rain; the weather could change quickly. We will practice social distancing during our breaks. Let’s get out and ride.
NOTE: there is no fuel in Jerome, make sure you have enough fuel for a 60 – 70 mile trip.
