This is one of my favorite rides that goes from Cherry to Jerome.  Part of the trail will be a loop.  We will take FS132 north to the top of Mingus Mountain, in the cool pines. We will then get on FS413 that will wind around the east side of Mingus Mountain overlooking Cottonwood until we are able to arrive at Jerome. The last part of this trail is rough which we will be able to avoid coming back by taking our loop. We will have lunch in Jerome at the Haunted Hamburger. We will park by the Fire Station at the north end of town. We will then depart on Hwy 89A and drive on approximately 11 miles of paved road back up to the top of Mingus Mountain. We will visit the vista where hang gliders launch off the mountain and then travel back to FS 132 for our return to the staging area.

We will stage at the turnoff to Forest Service Powell Springs Campground off of Cherry Creek Road (34° 34.6537′ N 112° 3.9223′ W). You take I-17 north, turn on State Route 169 west that goes to Dewey, turn north on Cherry Creek Road, which is signed, and make your way north to the Campground. We will park along Cherry Creek Road and gather at the junction of FS132 (34° 35.1566′ N 112° 3.4833′ W).

When registering, I only need to know the number of vehicles and not riders. Please only register for yourself. I am planning on up to 9 vehicles, 10 if you count myself.

The trail is rough but not technical. You need to be street legal since we will be driving on pavement through Jerome and then later completing a loop by using Hwy 89A.  Bring water and snacks.  Be prepared for any type of mechanical problems such as flat tires.  Total miles is estimated to be 60 miles.
