Crown King, AZ
I will lead a ride from Lake Pleasant up the “backway” to Crown King. It is one of the few trails for a day ride out of Phoenix that climbs up into the pine forests, which are cooler (high of 86 predicted for the 16th). We will stage at 0800 (33.90411, -112.32606) which is on both sides of Castle Hot Springs Road just before the north entrance into Lake Pleasant Park. The route is well described by “FunTreks”, (https://funtreks.com/off-road-trails/backway-crown-king/) and you can also download a gpx file of the track for your GPS. It is rated as “difficult” with some steep/rocky sections. This is a ride for only experienced drivers. This is a popular trail, and can be busy but, by going mid week it should be ok. Total trail mileage, round trip is 61 miles. You can take a lunch or eat in Crown King.
