Many of us use the Auxiliary Power Outlet to keep our devices charged. Doing this for my ipad I found that it only limited charged it or would not charge at all and it also caused my ipad to get hot. Somewhere I heard that if you use a Power Inverter it would solve any problems. An inverter takes in direct-current (DC) power—in this case, from your car’s 12-volt system—and converts it to the alternating-current (AC) power required by refrigerators, sump pumps, and most other household devices. It has usb ports as well as regular type plug ins. I went on a ride yesterday and had the opportunity to use an inverter and found that it really works. My ipad remained cool and charged. I purchased an inexpensive one from Bestek but there are many brands out there. Hope this helps someone.

Good advice. Also, you should be mindful that these inverters will usually draw power from your battery even though they are not powering anything on the 120 volt output. Remember to switch them off or unplug them when not in use to avoid a dead battery. I have installed a USB dual output device in my buggy for the purpose of what Keith has mentioned, and it is powered through a key-on circuit, and can be kept on through a time-out timer that will cut all AUX power after a preset time, thus saving your battery in case you forget.
